Consultants who are
also maintainers
ShinySoft Technologies exists to get businesses the software they have been trying to build. Over 25 years that has meant fleet management, warehousing, commercial real estate, construction, medical devices, contact centres and more — industries where the result has to keep working long after the launch, and where a half-finished system costs more than no system at all.
We are also the maintainers of the Shiny open source libraries: the tooling other teams reach for when Bluetooth, background jobs, push notifications or location tracking have to work properly on real devices. They have been downloaded more than 50 million times, and they are the reason your project can start at the product rather than the plumbing.

Meet the founder
ShinySoft Technologies is a small in-house team of senior engineers, not an agency and not a contractor marketplace — everyone who works on your project is on our payroll. That is small enough that it is worth knowing who you would actually be dealing with.

Allan Ritchie
CEO & Founder
ShinySoft Technologies, est. 2018
Allan started ShinySoft Technologies in 2018, after twenty-five years working as a developer, an architect and a consultant. Most of that time has been spent in commercial real estate, healthcare, logistics and fleet operations — businesses where software has to hold up in daily use rather than in a demo.
He has maintained .NET open source for fifteen years, first contributing to NHibernate and later writing the Shiny libraries, which have since passed 50 million downloads. He has been a Microsoft MVP each year since 2017, and a Xamarin MVP before that.
He also co-hosts Gone .NET, a weekly livestream with Jonathan Dick on real-world .NET. On client work he stays hands-on — he scopes the engagement and stays with it through delivery.
More about AllanWhat you can expect
The things we hold to on every engagement, regardless of size.
We build what we recommend
Our open source libraries are used in production by teams and contractors around the world. The patterns we advise you to adopt are ones we maintain ourselves.
Senior people, no hand-off
Everyone we put on your project is a senior in-house engineer, and the person who scoped the work stays on it through delivery. There is no bait-and-switch to a junior bench after the contract is signed, and nothing gets quietly subcontracted.
Honest scope
If a project is not a good fit, or a simpler solution exists, we say so early. A short honest engagement beats a long expensive one.
Built to hand back
We leave documentation, tests and a team that can maintain the result. Success means you do not need us on retainer forever.
Let's talk about your project
A short conversation is usually enough to tell whether we can help.
