Privacy Policy

ShinySoft Technologies is a consultancy, not an advertising business. We collect the minimum needed to answer your enquiry and to understand which pages are worth writing more of. We do not sell personal information, we do not share it with data brokers, and we do not add anyone to a mailing list for getting in touch.

Who we are

ShinySoft Technologies (Ontario, Canada) operates this website and is the organization accountable for the personal information described here. For any privacy question or request, email allan@shinysoft.biz.

What we collect, and why

When you use the contact form

We store what you type:

• Name and company — required, so we know who is asking.
• Email address — required, so we can reply.
• Phone number — optional, only if you would rather be called.
• Your message.

Alongside it, the server records some technical details about the submission that you do not type: your IP address, your browser'suser agent string, the referring page or origin, and the time the message arrived. These exist for one reason — telling a real enquiry apart from automated spam, and enforcing the rate limit that keeps the form usable. They are not used to build a profile of you.

The lawful basis is our legitimate interest in responding to business enquiries and protecting the form from abuse; where you are in a jurisdiction that treats your submission as consent, submitting the form is that consent.

When you book a call

The "Book a Call" links go to Microsoft Bookings, a Microsoft service. Anything you enter there is collected by Microsoft under its own privacy statement and delivered to our calendar. We do not receive anything beyond the booking details you provide.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to count page views and see which pages people actually read. It does not run unless you accept it. On a first visit the analytics tag is not loaded at all, no analytics cookie is set, and no request is made to Google. If you accept, Google Analytics sets cookies and processes your device and usage data — including a truncated IP address — on our behalf. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store full IP addresses.

Your choice is remembered in your browser's local storage under the keyss-analytics-consent. You can change it at any time using theCookie preferences link in the footer, or by clearing this site's data in your browser.

Fonts

Typefaces are served by Google Fonts. Loading them discloses your IP address and browser to Google, in the same way as any other resource a page requests from a third party. This happens regardless of your analytics choice because the page needs the font to render.

What we do not do

• No advertising or remarketing pixels, and no ad-network tracking of any kind.
• No social media tracking scripts. The social icons are ordinary links.
• No sale, rental or trade of personal information — under any circumstances.
• No newsletter signup, and no marketing email as a result of contacting us.

Where it is stored

Contact form submissions are stored in a database on infrastructure we operate ourselves in Canada. They are not held in a third-party CRM or marketing platform. Access is restricted to ShinySoft Technologies staff who need it to respond to you, and the administrative interface is key-protected.

Analytics data, if you have accepted it, is processed by Google and may be stored on Google infrastructure outside Canada, including in the United States. Microsoft Bookings data is held by Microsoft on its infrastructure.

How long we keep it

Contact submissions are kept for as long as the enquiry is live and for up to24 months afterwards, so that we have the history if you come back to us. After that they are deleted. If you ask us to delete yours sooner, we will — see below.

Your rights

Under Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA) and, where it applies to you, the UK and EU GDPR, you can ask us to:

• Confirm whether we hold personal information about you, and give you a copy.
• Correct anything inaccurate.
• Delete it.
• Stop using it for a particular purpose, or withdraw consent you previously gave.
• Provide it in a portable format, or transfer it.

Email allan@shinysoft.biz and we will respond within 30 days. We will not charge you for it and we will not make you explain why. If you are not satisfied with how we have handled a request, you may complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, or to your local supervisory authority if you are in the UK or EU.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS. The contact endpoint is protected by an origin check, a request token and a per-IP rate limit. No system is perfect, so please do not send passwords, credentials, health information or other sensitive personal data through the contact form — if what you need to share is sensitive, say so and we will arrange a secure channel.

Children

This is a business-to-business site and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. Material changes to how we handle information already collected will be notified to anyone affected.

Governing law

This policy is governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable in it.
